Greetings film fans;
Well, it’s been a wonderful two years of fun, films and frenzied voting. Alas as that old cliche goes, all good things etc etc.
Yes, we’ve decided to put Arty Farty Film Party on long-term hiatus. Partly because of my personal situation (I no longer live in Manchester), but mainly because An Outlet has recently closed it’s doors for good. It’s a real shame, as it was such a wonderful venue with a truly individual program of events.
Perhaps I’ll start up Arty Farty Film Party London soon, who knows. But until then, thanks everyone - it’s been a pleasure.
Love, Arty Farty Film Party x

Farewell

This month we’ve had a special request for a genre, and being an open-minded and inquisitive bunch we’re more than happy to oblige! It’s one we’d never have thought of ourselves, but once we started researching it we realised it was choc-full of absolute cinematic classics! Ladies and gents, please get voting for your choice of 60s military / revolution films! And if anyone else has a suggestion for a decade / genre combo, just drop us a note at bec@artyfartyfimparty.co.uk.

Due to July’s cancellation, next week we’ll finally be screening your choice of 90s Crime / Gangster Films. It was a tough battle but in the end John Cusack and Minnie Driver emerged victorious. That’s right, we’re screening… Grosse Point Blank!

Thanks to everyone that came down for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - it’s such a great film, just as good as we remembered as kids (for the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth… time we watched it). So we’ve come up with a new decade and genre combo for you, and after initially thinking of a couple of classics, after some research it turned out there are absolutely loads of corking films to choose from! Ladies and gents, add your choice to the already vast (16 starters - a new record?) 90s Crime / Gangster Films poll!

Bad Lieutenant
Remember: you can vote for an existing film, as well as adding your own choice of film, and if you really think one of the other film suggestions is complete pap you can ‘bury’ it (which is like knocking one vote off). To cast your vote just click on the square to the right of the film title you want to vote for. Also - you can vote for every film if you care to, but only one vote per film. Just to help you out if you’re feeling torn!
The poll closes at 12pm, Thursday 30th June

This month we’ve selected a cracking Historical Romance film for you. And no decade ever did period dramas in quite the same way as the 80s, did they? Ladies and gents, we present…

Please accept our apologies for the cancellation of March’s film party. Our regular host was a little under the weather, so we’re going to repeat our 80s action / adventure theme for you again in June. To welcome in the spring (fingers crossed) we’re going for your choice of always colourful (if not necessarily uplifting)… 00s documentary films!

A happy new year to you all! This month we’re going with 70’s Sci-Fi films. Due to a problem with my internet access over Xmas, I’ve not been able to put up a poll for this one, so I’ve taken the liberty of choosing a film for us all to watch. And that film is…

A Clockwork Orange
Stanley Kubrick’s classic tale of futuristic ultra-violence, A Clockwork Orange.
Film starts at 7pm, FREE ENTRY. Invite your friends.

This month we’re going to be doing our film party a week later than normal, to coincide with the second installment of Tome Deaf book club (concerned with discussing books on the lives and works of renegade musicians). As we’re reading Boy George’s autobiography - Take It Like A Man - it seemed only fitting to screen your choice of gay interest film, with a 90s twist…

This month we’re doing things a little differently. An Outlet are arranging some of their regular gatherings to coincide with In The City, as part of the official line-up. They’re also debuting their new book club - Tome Deaf: concerned with discussing books on the lives and works of renegade musicians. This month it’s The Dirt - the Motley Crue biography. I’m 3/4 of the way through so far and I have to say I’m riveted. I may have developed a soft spot for Tommy Lee too. All are welcome to attend (ITC wristband holders especially so), and you can find more info about that event here: Tome Deaf Facebook Event.
We’ll be teaming up with Tome Deaf to cap off the evening with some audio visual stimulation, so after the discussion it seems only fitting that we screen your favourite… music biopic!

La Vie En Rose
Remember: you can vote for an existing film, as well as adding your own choice of film, and if you really think one of the other film suggestions is complete pap you can ‘bury’ it (which is like knocking one vote off).
