This could work out real good for me and Jean and Scotty.

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Thanks to everyone who came down to our bonfire night special for Serpico. We hope you enjoyed your sparklers!

Last week’s poll was a 2 horse race, and I think we had an all time record for number of votes placed (into the 70’s!). But we’re happy to announce that the winner (by a single vote) is Fargo!

Fargo

Fargo

After several requests we decided to have a Coen brothers’ night, and Fargo really is the marmite of their repertoire. It won 2 Oscars and has a storming cast including William H. Macy, Frances McDormand and the legendary Steve Buscemi - so come down tomorrow, Weds 18th November - and make your own mind up if you haven’t already seen it!

Doors are at 7pm, film at 7:30pm sharp at An Outlet on Dale Street. Remember there’s a very limited seating capacity (30) so make sure you get there on time to avoid disappointment.

There will be £6 bottles of red and white wine available to purchase, as well as a range of lovely bottled beers, popcorn, nachos and penny sweets. And as always entrance is 100% free.

We hope to see you there!

The sixth party…

Monday, August 10th, 2009

The last party was a raging success, so thanks to those who came down. It sure was one creepy evening!

Don’t you go worrying though because we’ve got a corker of a line up ready for party number 6 and I think you’ll have to agree. It’s all about those… 1990’s American Novel Adaptations. Yep that’s films that were made into movies in the 90’s not necessarily written then though… you get me? Good!

Now we’ve got a pretty slick set of films to get you going and would love to see a few more added, so happy voting folks.

Remember: with the new poll you can vote for an existing film, as well as adding your own choice of film, and if you really think one of the other film suggestions is complete pap you can ‘bury’ it (which is like knocking one vote off). To cast your vote just click on the square to the right of the film title you want to vote for. Also - you can vote for every film if you care to, but only one vote per film. Just to help you out if you’re feeling torn!

The vote closes at 12pm, Friday 14th August.

THE POLL FOR THIS PARTY IS NOW CLOSED

I am already grown up, I just get older.

Friday, May 1st, 2009

You’ve been voting furiously over the last few days and I’m super happy to announce that the film you’ve chosen for the 2nd Arty Farty Film Party next week is… Leon!

Leon

Leon

Leon was the big screen break for the wonderful Natalie Portman, who was just 12 years old when it was filmed. It’s one of those films that make you happy that people start acting young, especially when they’re as talented as Miss Portman.

We’re starting a little earlier this time around - 7pm doors with a view to starting the film at 7:30pm. The seating capacity of the venue is only 31 so make sure you get there early enough!

Hope to see you all there. Remember entrance is 100% free, and there’s beer, wines and tasty treats to purchase if you want some refreshments during the film.

The second party…

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

A huge thanks to everyone that came down for the first Arty Farty Film Party a couple of weeks ago. We had a ball and thought the whole evening went rather splendidly!

Now it’s time for the second party, and we have chosen a bit of an odd one… 1990’s big screen breaks. We know we know - it’s not technically a genre, however it has made us put our thinking caps on a bit. And thanks to my awesome friend Rich, we now have a fully collaborative poll set up, so i’m hoping you’ll enjoy thinking up some more films to vote on.

With the new poll you can vote for an existing film, as well as adding your own choice of film, and if you really think one of the other film suggestions is complete pap you can ‘bury’ it (which is like knocking one vote off).

The vote closes at 9am, Friday 1st May.
